The Big Break All Tied Up

Catalina Island Women's Golf Club

The April 6 Catalina Island Women's Golf Club tournament was called "The Big Break." Challenges at each hole included such things as "closest to the pin" and "closest to the line," (where a long chalk line was painted on the fairway at number eight). Points were gathered for the various events as well as putt scores and handicaps.

All eleven golfers played well and winning scores were extremely close

Alison Osinski and Judy Grear tied for first. Second place was a tie between Elizabeth Madden, Ellen Guion and Val Schafer.

Lunch at Mi Casita "was wonderful," said Schafer, "the waitress was so sweet and took such good care of all of us." After golf, the women always go to lunch. After the monthly tournaments, players hold a raffle to help raise money for the club and to provide funds for junior golf for girls.
