Interact Club Members Working hard on Community Service

Rotary Club of Avalon

Avalon Rotary’s Interact and Rotary Club members held a Community Clean-up day December 4, 2016. Four Interact Club members participated along with two Rotarians. Club members, all students at Avalon School, included: Daniel Silvia, Jay Feagle, Makenna Lee, Triana Markowitz. Rotarians included Karin Hague and Gary Black.

The following day, the Avalon Interact Club won a $600 award for decoration of a holiday tree in a contest sponsored by the Catalina Island Foundation. They decorated the tree using handmade ornaments from recycled materials they picked up on teh previous day during Community Clean-up day. There was a three way tie for first place, of which the Interact Club was one.

Avalon Rotary actively contributes to the betterment of the Island community by donating to local community charities. Made up of a vibrant group of community leaders and business people united in their belief that working together, they can make the world a better place, the club meets on Wednesdays, at noon, at the Catalina Canyon Resort . Visiting Rotarians are always welcome.
