Catalina Realtors Inc./Earl Schrader, Broker just closed escrow on the Holly Hill House. This Avalon landmark was originally built by Pete Gano in 1888 after purchasing the lot from George Shatto for $500.  He earmarked $3,000 to build the "Look Out Cottage" now registered as a National Historic.

Gano used a former circus horse named Mercury to power his elaborate cable car system. As Mercury walked down the hill pulling on ropes and pulleys, materials were hauled up to the construction site.

The new owners love Avalon and its history. They plan to restore this site to its former glory for future generations to enjoy.
