Catalina Island Medical Center Welcomes New Director of Social Services

Leticia Reed, LCSW is the new Director of Social Services at Catalina Island Medical Center. Leticia has worked most closely with individuals who have experienced trauma and PTSD and she has received specialized training to address these issues. She provides counseling and with co-workers Cristina Grain and Jenea Dominguez directs patients and families to important resources and services on the island or overtown.

A graduate of San Diego State University in Psychology and Child Development, Leticia continued her education at the University of Southern California School of Social Work where she received her Masters of Social Work with concentrations in Children and Families and Public Child Welfare. She has worked throughout Los Angeles County, in California State Corrections facilities, a military base, drug treatment facilities, outpatient and inpatient medical facilities plus in Department of Mental Health contracted agencies as a therapist, clinical supervisor, clinical trainer and eventually as an Interim

Director. Leticia has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the USC School  of Social Work Virtual Academic Center. She has over a decade of experience working with children, adults, families and couples from diverse backgrounds. CIMC's Social Services department handles very complex issues in the mental health field.

Leticia has also  been featured in countless professional articles and has been invited to participate on numerous professional panels, cable television and radio shows.
Leticia shared "I love working with people to assist them in finding hope and achieving wellness."

One of her first projects at the hospital is arranging the digital mammogram screenings that will be available March 4-5. She is also taking a leadership role in CIMC's annual Health Fair scheduled for Thursday April 28 from 9:30 am - 3 pm in the Casino Ballroom.

"In the short time Leticia Reed has been on staff we have already recognized the skills and caring she brings to our patients and the Social Service resources CIMC offers," Jason Paret, CEO commented.
