Catalina's Fabulous Flora Highlighted on "Wildflower Hotline"
Catalina Island Conservancy
Spring is here and wildflowers are beginning to paint Catalina Island's interior with a palette of many colors.
Starting this month, the Theodore Payne Foundation, a non-profit organization that promotes the understanding and preservation of California native flora, has added Catalina Island to its popular "Wildflower Hotline."
Every week the Hotline features reports from National Parks and places of interest throughout Southern California of what is in bloom and other news. Sarah Ratay, the Conservancy's Plant Ecologist and Aaron Morehouse, Education Programs Supervisor, will keep the Hotline up-to-date each week.
Those interested in learning what is blooming on Catalina this week can call (818) 768-3533 for a recorded message. To see the report online, visit http://www.theodorepayne.org/ and click on "Special Events."
