Landscape artist Kim Lordier will make her debut as a featured contributor to the Catalina: The Wild Side Art Show and Sale, scheduled for June 21-22, 2013, at the historic Catalina Island Country Club.

A native of the San Francisco Bay area and a graduate of the Academy of Art University, Lordier combines keen observation and sensitivity in her award-winning landscapes. After college, she flew for a major air carrier, experiencing many domestic and foreign locales while keeping up with painting and portraiture. Following September 2001, she turned to her work as an artist full time.

Lordier works with pastels in the plein air tradition, inspired by the turn-of-the-century California impressionists and tonalists. Fascinated with California's unique atmospheric qualities, Lordier strives to capture the beauty, depth and energy of the land and sea. She is currently a signature member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters, the Pastel Society of America, a distinguished pastelist in the Pastel Society of the West Coast, and artist member of the California Art Club.

"As a native Californian, I am sad to say that I have not set foot on the beautiful Island of Catalina,” she said. When I received the initial call from Bruce” - Bruce Fertig, Wild Side Committee chair – “I was so excited with the opportunity to finally visit the Island and capture the landscapes that I have seen in other’s work for years. I am truly honored to be part of history by chronicling this incredible place.”

She added, “Recreating Catalina's amazing hidden coves and wild landscapes will allow me to place a check next to ‘paint Catalina’ which is on my bucket list!"
