The 50th annual Catalina Island Festival of Art was held on the 21st and 22nd of September. The yearly event began days earlier as city workers began setting up the familiar artist's display boards along Crescent Avenue. Cross-channel boats arrived carrying the artists, many with works in tow, and the front street quickly became an outdoor gallery with Avalon Bay as the back-drop.

Robert Williams, an Avalon born painter now living on the mainland, won Best of Catalina. His painting of Crescent Avenue will be the cover of the 51st Festival of Art brochure. Todd Lechtic won first place for photography and John White finished first for mixed media. In the fine crafts category Mona and Alex Szabados took first place for their beautiful enamel jewelry pieces.

Meet all of the festival participants and view their work in eCatalina's streaming video.
