AVALON, Calif. – The wildflowers are in bloom! Thanks to 2017’s heavy Southern California rains the drought on Catalina Island has come to an end and brought back thousands of wildflowers.
Whether you are looking to hike the interior of the island or taking a leisurely walk through Avalon you will be greeted with a beautiful backdrop of the colors of spring. The photos in this article were all taken from the seat of my bicycle in Avalon.
If you decide to head to the Island’s interior, stop by the Catalina Island Conservancy Explore Store for maps, hiking permits and hiking information. Hike from Avalon on foot or take the Conservancy’s Wildlands Express to the Airport in the Sky to start their adventure from there.
