Avalon Makes the Holiday a Little More Fuller

City of Avalon

This is the time of year to be thankful for our families, friends, and where we live.  The City of Avalon is showing their thank you to the community by organizing and providing the annual Holiday Food Program.  This program gives families that might be less fortunate to have a Happy Holiday Dinner for Thanksgiving and or Christmas.
On the 21st of Nov. the City gave 40 families a box of food with a 14lb turkey, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing, yams, green beans, and a pumpkin pie.  The families were able to pick up the boxes at the Teen Center.  The food was made affordable due to generous donations by the Avalon Lion’s Club, Avalon Rotary, BB&K, Catalina Island Search and Rescue and private donation by the City Manager David Jinkens.  None of this would not be possible if it wasn’t for our Community Partnership with Catalina Beverage Company who shipped and delivered the food at no extra charge driving cost down.
The community came together to help out unselfishly to provide a Happy Thanksgiving to their neighbors who might need a little extra.  We at the City are thankful for all who were involved in this joyous act of giving.  We are all blessed to live in a wonderful community and a beautiful place.
If you know anyone who might be in need for the Christmas Food and Present program, please contact David Hart at the City.  310.510.0220 ext. 231
