The Rotary Club of Avalon is pleased to announce that they have received a matching grant in through Rotary District 5320 in the amount of $5,000. This grant will assist low-income community members with the cost of boat transportation for medical or surgical services that are not available on the island. The Rotary Club of Avalon provides $2,500 and that amount is matched by Rotary District 5320, which covers Orange and Southern Los Angeles Counties.

Members of the Avalon Rotary club have generously donated to the Rotary Foundation making the club eligible for grant applications. For the past several years, this grant has provided round trip boat tickets and in some cases commuter books to many appreciative community members.

Local residents with a medical/surgical necessity on the mainland will be screened by the social services and business office departments at Catalina Island Medical Center for eligibility. For additional information please contact Jenea Dominguez or Cristina Grain at the Medical Center at 310-510-0700.
