Introducing 2 races for 2017. Welcome to the NEW Avalon 50/50 Benefit Run on Catalina Island. Whether you choose to conquer the entire island in our traditional 50 Mile Run, or start off with our new “Introductory” Avalon 50K Benefit Run (31 miles), we welcome you to Catalina Island. This race weekend is renowed as one of the country’s most challenging and scenic runs. No cars, no smog, just great terrain, incredible views, fascinating historical sites, a well-organized race, nice people and great food await you.
Southern California divers have made the Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup one of their premier social events of the year. Divers retrieve trash and lost items from Avalon Harbor, and revel in the warm friendly atmosphere of Catalina Island. Last year, approximately 343 participants recovered 4,980 pounds of trash. Proceeds from the event will benefit USC’s Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber and Wrigley Institute Scientific Diving Program.

Guests have the opportunity to watch the live Oscar telecast, enjoy a buffet dinner, and bid on silent and live auctions items.
Coming up on its 40th Anniversary, this "bucket list" marathon features the exciting and historic marathon course used largely since the first year on the Catalina Island Conservancy’s lands. This includes much of the rugged terrain, spectacular vistas, challenging climbs and special challenges enjoyed by thousands of runners over the years! PLus a 10K, 5K and Kids Run. In cooperation with our host, Catalina Island Conservancy, the Catalina Island Marathon is a CUPLESS COURSE! For hydration, we will be offering participants the option to purchase a $5 Salomon reusable soft-cup or provide your own hydration system. This silent adventure is the first film adaptation of J.M. Barrie's play entitled, Peter Pan. In the story, Peter Pan was a magical boy who refuses to grow up and brings the Darling children to Neverland. Their adventures include a confrontation with Captain Hook and his crew. Filmed on Catalina Island, Peter Pan has been called "one of the greatest children's films ever made." The Silent Film Benefit provides the rare opportunity to experience cinema the way it was originally intended, with live musical accompaniment by an orchestra in a grand movie palace. This event is a journey into the past when Big Bands played for large audiences and the performances were broadcast to the nation in the Art Deco Casino Ballroom built in 1929. The annual Catalina Ski Race is the premiere water ski race in the world, but the it is more than just a race. With its rich 69 year history, quality of competition, and challenge of the open ocean, the Catalina Ski Race has earned its place on the world stage. The 62 mile-long race to Avalon and back makes it only turn just offshore of Descanso Beach and Hamilton Cove. Water skiers from around the globe come to participate. This race has notoriety because of the number of participants, and because it is the only open-ocean ski race regularly scheduled anywhere in the world. It is an especially unique challenge to compete across 62 miles of ocean. It is highly coveted and followed around the ski racing world.
58th Annual Catalina Channel Crossing US Outrigger Championships. Come out and see the women finish the longest Polynesian canoe race in the continental U.S., 26 miles from Newport Beach to Avalon, on Saturday, at Casino Point. Then enjoy the after race Hawaiian festivities at the center of town; including music and beer garden. On Sunday watch the men start their race back to Newport Beach from Lovers Cove.
